Capel signs new contract with Sevilla
Diego Capel has signed a new long-term contract with Sevilla.
The 22-year old winger is now set to extend his stay at the club until June 2014.
Capel, who scored the opening goal in Sevilla’s 2-0 Copa del Rey triumph over Atlético Madrid had lost his place in the starting-eleven this season after the emergence of 21-year old Argentinian, Diego Perotti.
Despite Perotti’s excellent form, Capel still featured in 29 league games this season and helped his team to win the Spanish Cup, and qualify for next season’s Champions League – a feat which looked highly unlikely until Rodri’s dramatic injury-time winner in Sevilla’s last-day victory over fellow Andalucían side, Almería.
Contract talks began in December, but the club seemed unwilling to comply with Capel’s request for a long-term agreement.
However, the Copa del Rey champions have now confirmed that they have tied their former youth team player down for another four-years.
His buy-out clause has been raised to €30m (£26.1m)
